{RECAP} sofar sounds dc

Guys, I've got a secret I'm dying to let you in on: there's a worldwide organization that puts on secret concerts every month. It's called Sofar Sounds and it's awesome.

On Wednesday night I was lucky enough to attend Sofar's first show in DC in a couple of years and it was an incredible evening. Fifty music lovers gathered at the National Museum of Women in the Arts and milled about in the atrium anxiously waiting to find out what was in store for them. Everyone was so fun and excited to be part of this unique musical opportunity.

In no time, we were led into a small gallery and the fifty of us sat cross legged on the floor as the lineup of the night was revealed: three sets from local bands Young Rapids, Stronger Sex, and The Walking Sticks.

Young Rapids' Dan Gleason kicked off the night with an awesome solo set. Next was three-piece Stronger Sex who were a great change of pace. They were a great blend of super sexy vibes (think Chet Faker) combined with legitimate art. (Sadly we had to miss The Walking Sticks but we were sure they were awesome because they are!)

I highly highly highly recommend that you take the opportunity to see these bands live and if you're interested in finding out more about Sofar Sounds (no matter where you live!), click here and if you're in the DC area, click here! (And stay tuned for videos from the evening!)
