{RECAP} all things go's fall classic

On Saturday, TIOJ visited one of our most favorite places in all of the city, Union Market, for a lovely day of music, fall weather, and all the bagels we could eat for All Thing Go's inaugural Fall Classic. As we've come to expect from the folks over at All Things Go, this event went off without a hitch and was made memorable by the killer lineup, delicious food and drink selections, genius free photo booth, and the surprisingly incident-less atmosphere.

We caught Bear Hands first who got us in to the festival mood with their energetic indie rock and seemed to wake everyone up as the rain stopped falling and the sun came up.  Next up were favorites Haerts. Like the last time we saw them, they were a perfect blend of modern sensual jams with classic '80s Fleetwood Mac vibes. My favorite jam of their set was "Tonight (Gone Forever)" which would be oh so perfect for a slow dance.

Unfortunately we missed Tove Lo's set because we ran down to Buffalo & Bergen to get bagels. I would be disappointed if not for the fact that B&B gave us a baker's dozen of bagels to take home with us for free. We are nothing if not suckers for free food. PLUS, energized from carbo loading, we got to play around with the AMAZING gif photo booth where we tried (unsuccessfully) to spell out TIOJ DC. Better luck next time.

if only you could see my kicky foot pop for the "J"...
Finally was the most anticipated band of the night: Future Islands. After a DJ set full of remixed guilty pleasures including "Call Me Al" and "No Scrubs" by B-Roc of The Knocks, the crowd was more than ready for Future Islands. Lead singer Samuel Herring quickly lived up his reputation of being an incredible singer and freaking crazy awesome dancer.

Favorites of Future Island's set included "Back In The Tall Grass" and oldie but goodie "Tin Man." Herring's stage presence was unlike anything we've ever witnessed live. He didn't just sing his songs, he performed them with palpable emotion. You really must see this band live if you ever get the chance. (Editors note: You may be able to relive it because there was a real life DRONE filming their set. TIOJ after a few beers was a little too fascinated by it...)

MAJOR LOVE to All Things Go for putting on such a perfect fall festival. Fingers crossed this becomes a tradition. Now please excuse me while I patent a workout routine inspired by the squats and leg kicks of Future Islands and the booty popping of Beyonce.
