{RECAP} inauguration eve at m central

So this recap is a few days late, which I blame solely on BeyoncĂ© and her most recent scandal. It has clouded my thoughts related to all things Inauguration. Anyway, I think I’ve finally gone through my stages of grief and am ready to recap the Inauguration Eve show from Sunday featuring U.S. Royalty, Low Cut Connie, The Dig, and Shark Week.

The concert, put on by Listen Local First and all the sponsors of pop up venue M Central, was a wonderful way to continue the long-weekend (or wrap up the weekend for those of us that had to work Monday #notbitter) and featured some great graffiti-inspired art that we were able to check out between sets.

U.S. Royalty // Low Cut Connie

U.S. Royalty headlined the show and solidified their rock star status from their outfits to their passion to their raw talent. I seriously don’t understand how these guys aren’t bigger. We loved hearing old favorites like “Equestrian” and “Vacation Vacation” and were treated to some incredible new songs that we can’t wait to hear again.

Low Cut Connie was the surprise of the night. We weren’t familiar with them prior to Sunday but by the first song, the band pretty much burned their music in your mind in the best way possible. From the unstopping pelvic thrusts to rotating singers to the Grease-worthy get-ups – this band wass too much fun.

(They're playing at IOTA in Arlington on February 1st -- GO SEE THEM!)

Wrapping up the night were TIOJ favorites The Dig whose set reminded me how great their entire album is and DC locals Shark Week who may look unassuming at first glance but can rock harder than a lot of bands I’ve seen recently. You MUST check both bands out.
shark week // the dig
Definitely keep these bands on your radar, people!

Next Up: Ra Ra Riot tonight at 9:30!
