so jealous

I. would've. died.

these are our SUPER BOWL jams

In case you were unaware, the Super Bowl is this weekend. We're super excited for Madonna's halftime show (play "Like a Prayer" pleeeeeeeeeease!!) and Krista's buffalo chicken dip. And for the Patriots to win.

Krista:
SO I realize that it’s the Giants and not the Jets that are going to the Super Bowl this weekend but I HAVE to share this video of NY Jets Running Back, LaDainian Tomlinson. Don’t know how I haven’t posted this yet seeing as it rounds out my list of top 3 favorite YouTube videos ever.

Now wave to your mom!

Kristen:
I have to admit. I don't like football. Before you go and stone me for that blasphemy, hear me out. I don't like football but I LOVE football movies. My love for football movies probably stems from a combination of the following: men in tight pants, funny athletes, and choreographed song and dance sequences. Case in point? "I Will Survive" from The Replacements.

Stacey:
God bless YouTube for helping me find this gem.

My other Super Bowl jam: BenJarvus Green-Ellis. Yes,because of his name, but also because he's beast.

PS, check back Friday for more Super Bowl jams!

this is (potentially?) my mashup jam

Just discovered "Somebody at Midnight" by M83 & Gotye. Individually, TIOJ loves these songs to an unhealthy degree, but together we can't decide how we feel about this mashup. Excuse me while I put this on repeat for the rest of my work day and try and make up my mind.

Thoughts? Is it a hit?

porcelain raft is my jam

I didn't know much about Porcelain Raft before purchasing tickets to see them open for the Smith Westerns this Wednesday (SO EXCITED) but after much Youtube perusal and grooveshark stalking, I can say with full confidence that their set is going to be amazing!

Check out more from Porcelain Raft over at NPR's Song of the Day.

new music from Tennis

SO in love with this new song from adorable husband/wife preptastic duo, Tennis.

I saw them in all their cuteness at Rock & Roll Hotel last year and they great- despite the fact that the lead singer pretty much had the flu (kind of like that episode of Friends when Phoebe has a cold and does her best performance of "Smelly Cat" ever). Can't wait for their album, Young & Old, that comes out, of course, on Valentine's Day.

Well Played, Hyundai

In response to the brilliance that Kia has put out with their dancing hamsters, Hyundai has responded (not sure if it's really in response, but I'm going to pretend that this is an epic marketing battle) with an AWESOME series of music videos called RE:GENERATION that brings together artists from pretty much every genre imaginable.

My favorite of the series is Nas with the Berklee Symphony Orchestra because, let's be real, who wouldn't want to see Nas conducting an orchestra?

Be sure to check out the entire series including this little collabizzle with Erykah Badu, Trombone Shorty, Mos Def and more.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY STACEY

Kristen and I tried to think of all the reasons we love Stacey but we got so excited that we couldn't form words. Thankfully, gifs exist. Pictures are worth a thousand words, boo.

Photobucket

Alabama Shakes are my jam

Dudes, you NEED to check out this band ASAP. The lead singer's voice is incredible and soulful. It's the type of voice that makes you mute the TV playing Top Chef reruns so that you can truly appreciate it.

andrew bird is my jam

Such a charming video of Andrew Bird's "Weather Systems" care of Blogotheque's amazing take-away shows--perfect accompaniment to DC's bipolar weather today!

this is our ryan gosling love tribute

If you haven’t doodled “Mrs. Ryan Gosling” and “(first name goes here) Gosling” over every piece of paper you own (or maybe accidentally on that form you were filling out at the doctor’s office… oops), we’re pretty sure that there’s something very very wrong with you. This week’s playlist is an homage to our favoritest, most beautifulist movie star of the year. Ryan, you can pull out the Dirty Dancing lift on us anytime.

May we present to you the Official TIOJ Ryan Gosling Trifecta of Songs:

Songs By Ryan (of course R-Gos is in a band. We’re swooning.):
Pa Pa Power - Dead Man’s Bones
You Always Hurt the Ones You Love – Ryan Gosling (in Blue Valentine)
Dead Man’s Bones – Dead Man’s Bones

Songs Related to Ryan:

(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life – Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes (Dirty Dancing)
Act Naturally – Buck Owens (Remember the Titans)
Nightcall – Kavinsky (Drive)

Songs Definitely Written About Ryan:
Your Body Is a Wonderland – John Mayer
Hey Girl – O.A.R.
You Are So Beautiful – Al Green

We just added every Ryan Gosling movie to our Netflix queue. Tell us what we should watch first @thisisourjamdc. And if you’re an admitted Goslingite (we wish that worked as well as Beliebers…), like us on facebook so we can share this beautiful love. And continue your swooning over at theFFJD.

Throwback Thursday: "Like a Prayer"

In preparation for Madonna's performance at the Super Bowl next week, and, well, just because.

Thoughts:
1. I had no idea that this music video was borderline religious. Curious.
2. I'm really glad that Madonna knew how to dress herself in clothes that fit at one point during her career (not the case at the Golden Globes last week).
3. Go Pats.

We Love Wednesday: Bryan Greenberg

We love actor, Bryan Greenberg, because well...

TIOJ Birthday Wishlist

In honor of a certain TIOJer’s upcoming birthday, we’ve put together a birthday wishlist for fun finds that are, obviously, our jam.

Cassette iPhone Case (Such a clever idea- will make people do a double take as you jam on Metro)
Concert Tickets (Check our Upcoming Concerts list for ideas)
Crossbody Bags (Clutch for concerts - You need your hands for dancing a catching guitar picks)
Pairings Box (COOLEST gift idea from Turntable Kitchen. They give you recipes and ingredients PLUS music to accompany your new dishes!)
New Albums (We’re looking forward to new albums from Yellow Ostrich and The Shins plus so many more upcoming 2012 albums)
Indie Rock Coloring Book (Great excuse to embrace your inner child. If you’re in DC, you can find them at Tabletop in Dupont Circle)

JGL is my jam. Autotune...not so much.

Its official. Joseph Gordon-Levitt has performed the impossible. He has made me Autotune charming. Ish.

True story: the television right out of my office at work is stuck on C-SPAN. I wouldn't hate it so much if JGL was on. Though, if JGL was on, I would also probably not get any work done at all.

these are our jams from our girl crushes

Our current musical girl crushes. Enough said.

Krista:
My love for Danish singer, Oh Land, took full-on girl crush status this weekend as I put on her jams while I got ready to go out. It was SO hard to pick a song because they’re all so good, but I have to go with this video for “White Nights” because this is pretty much what I looked like on Saturday night dancing around my room…minus the balloons, plus Two-Buck Chuck and Kristen giggling at me in the corner.

If you’re crushin on Oh Land too, be sure to check out her entire session with Big Ugly Yellow Couch.

Stacey:
TIOJ loves Adele and all she does. She is without a doubt that she is my #1 girl crush of the moment (although Grace Potter is a close second...). It was really hard to pick my favorite song of hers -- "Turning Tables" is very high on the list.

Kristen:
Kate Nash is adorable, British, and has a killer voice. She's been known to do some awesome covers of TIOJ-approved bands (see: Black Kids, Arctic Monkeys) and even though she seems super sweet, you can tell from her songs that if you cross her, she'll eff you up. What is not to love?

The Head and the Heart...in your high school classroom

Happy Monday! Are you tired and cold and looking for some mellow music to ease you into the week? Let The Head and the Heart help you out with that.

(Heads up- this live session was recorded as part of a classroom series in Lawrence, KS.  The school brings in bands to perform and then discuss music, film, etc. I would have loved to be a part of that class and, more importantly, being the one to write the bands name on the white board)

If you're digging this, definitely check out the latest Lawrence High School Classroom Sessions with the Civil Wars.

mc solaar is my jam

Sometimes I like to listen to French rap under the guise of practicing my four semesters of college French--which, let's face it, is complete BS. French rap doesn't exactly teach me vocab words that I can easily work into everyday convos. I won't really have any occasion to converse with native French speakers and Francophiles about two young lovers who pull each other into a life of crime, which is exactly what "La Belle et Le Bad Boy" by MC Solaar is about. Nonetheless, this song is my jam.

I also kind of love this song because "Le Belle et Le Bad Boy" sounds to me like a live-action Disney Movie that just so happens to take place on the streets.

have a good weekend people!

(Grandma, if you're reading this on your iPad, we will not "be rolling one, smoking one" all weekend...just want to clear that up. Love you, bye!)

these are our "i think i like you" jams

So you've been on a few dates with the perfect guy and life is all sunshine and sprinkles on your fro-yo. While it may not be official yet, you're thinking about deactivating OKCupid, every song you hear causes you to daydream about the first dance at your wedding, and you’ve been obsessively pinning engagement rings to your Pinterest board. We’re all for daydreaming and pinning, so here are some jamz to fuel your excitement and potential liking of that new, cute NJB.

Float on your little love cloud over to theFFJD if you need advice on how to make things offish with that boy of yours.

I Think I Like You by this is our jam on Grooveshark

"Can You Tell" - Ra Ra Riot
"Young Dumb and In Love" - Mat Kearney
"PDA (We Just Don't Care)" - John Legend
"The First Five Times" - Stars
"Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic" - The Police
"Fool for Love" - Stefy
"Heart Skipped a Beat" - The xx
"Crushin'" - Police Academy 6
"Night Vision Binoculars" - Passenger
"I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend" - Discovery

Are you in like (or almost in like)? Tell us some of your "I like you" or your full-fledged "THIS IS MY NEW BOYF I'M IN LOVEEEEE" jamz @thisisourjamdc OR on facebook (like us! it's new! do it!)!

Big day, guys -- we just realized that this is our 500th post, and we're really excited. Like, can't contain it, busting out dance moves in our cubes excited. These gifs express our excitement most accurately:

new jam from Sleigh Bells

yes, just yes.

SO SO excited to see them at 9:30 Club in ONE MONTH!

no really, this is my jam

guys. I've already listened to this song 8 times this morning...

Bonus points that this video looks like the scene of some serious PLDs.

Krampus from Jared S. Windler on Vimeo.

But seriously, Houndmouth is an up and coming band from New Albany, IN (close to my homeland!) that describes themselves as "a folk/rock band with bouncy half-time beats, punchy guitar riffs, and a bit of facial hair. We all like to sing...sometimes at the same time" and I'm so excited we found them. Find more from them on their Soundcloud page.

hope your morning is something like this...

evolution of a song

It's not unheard of for some songs to evolve a tiny bit over time. Remixes, mash-ups, acoustic versions--you name it, we've heard it.

It seems kind of rare, though, to have the opportunity to listen to three different songs by one band and realize that they all evolved from the same starting point.

That may be why I am so obsessed with Walk the Moon's "Show Me", "I Want! I Want!" and "William Blake", three distinct jams who share some melodies and lyrics, but really couldn't be more different.

Acoustic/Broody "Show Me"

Somber/Heartfelt "I Want! I Want!"

Upbeat/Chipmunk-esque "William Blake"

Harry Potter is our Musical Soulmate

guys, this has been one of the happiest 24 hours for TIOJ ever. EVER. EVER. EVER.

We just found out that Daniel Radcliffe (yes, the savior of the wizarding world) is our Musical Soulmate (yes, I'm capitalizing that because it's THAT serious). It's not like he said he loved listening to the Strokes and Death Cab for Cutie.  Everyone likes them; it's like saying you like pizza. NO, Musical Soulmate Radcliffe says in the below interview with MTV Music that his favorite bands are: Walk the Moon AND Yellow Ostrich.  The two most random, most FAVORITE bands of TIOJ. AAAAND the two bands that we've actually MET (and may or may not have taken tequila shots with...).

WE ARE FREAKING OUT. FREAKINGGGGG OUTTTTTT.
watch the video below while we regain our composure...

SO COOL RIGHT?!?!?
To set the record straight, Musical Soulmate, Walk the Moon is from Ohio, not England.  We got the deets while we were taking silly pictures with them at Black Cat:

Also, do you guys realize that WTM that the first song we ever posted?!?

And in case you were wondering, Yellow Ostrich is based in New York, but lead singer Alex is originally from Wisconsin (and very cute and tall in real life...).

Musical Soulmate, if you're reading this, bless you for your wonderful taste in music and if you're in DC, come to the Walk the Moon concert with us in March :)

these are our PLD jams

What are you going to do over the long weekend, chickens?? Having an extra day to play will give you an extra night to make some poor life decisions (from here on out known as PLDs)... you know what we mean. It's okay, we've all been there. We've all woken up with new phone numbers (with names like "Ferdinannd - BARRRRR") in our phones and half-eaten PB&Js in our hands. We think PLDs are character-building. And if you don't have Monday off, make the best of what you do have this weekend, and try to get all of your PLDs in by Sunday. These jams are an excellent accompaniment to promoting any PLDs you may or may not make... so listen to them as you nurse your hangovers and recount the night's PLDs and escapades with your besties at brunch (bonus of three-day weekends -- three days of brunch. God bless the Bloody Mary.).

Need some life advice on your PLDs? Jump on over to theFFJD for extra guidance.

PLDs by this is our jam on Grooveshark

"Take Off Your Clothes" – Morningwood
"Everybody Knows You Cried Last Night" - The Fratellis
"Booty Call" - G Love
"My Medicine" - The Pretty Reckless
"An Honest Mistake" - The Bravery
"Get U Home" - Schwayze
"Drinkin' and Dialin'" - Darius Rucker
"Marry You" - Bruno Mars
"Drunk Girl" - Something Corporate
"Got Some Teeth" - Obie Trice

Now that you've made sure that that boy you met is actually cute and does in fact have teeth, let us know about your PLDs and the jams that best accompany them @thisisourjamdc.

friday!

(it's true, russian machine never breaks)

Ovie's an All-Star -- he can keep dancing like that all he wants. Especially on Fridays.

Throwback Thursday: "Thunder Road"

"Thunder Road" is probably one of my most favorite songs ever. Bruce is my jam. This song felt fitting for today because yesterday would've been Clarence Clemons' 70th birthday and tomorrow is my dad's birthday and this is his favorite song (I know, so cute, we have the same favorite song!).

Also, yes, I know the Big Man isn't featured too much in "Thunder Road," so here's a little "Jungleland" as a bonus.

we/or/me is my how-do-you-pronounce-this-band's-name? jam

When TIOJ isn't posting about Scandinavian bands, there's an 85% chance we're posting about Canadian bands instead. What can we say? Musicians from chilly places provide the best jams.

Meet we/or/me from Calgary! I'm going to spend the rest of my day listening to this slow, lovely song while silently pondering if the band's name is "we or me" or "we slash or slash me".

We Love Wednesday: Drinking Out of Cups

I realized last week that this youtube video plays in my head a little too often. Not my chair, not my problem.

We Love Wednesday: The Black Keys

So I realize we’ve made it pretty evident that we love the Black Keys…

i want to play with them please...(via gq.com)
We fell (even more intensely) in love with them at FreeFest at this year and I’ve been loving their album ever since I saw their video for “Lonely Boy” off their latest album, El Camino. Here are my other two favorites from their latest album:

Gold On The Ceiling by The Black Keys on Grooveshark
Currently working on my dance for this song so that I can challenge my best friend from the “Lonely Boy” video to a dance off. You’ve been warned.

Little Black Submarines by The Black Keys on Grooveshark
Love that this song starts out mellow and slowly turns into a jam sesh between these two wonderful musicians.

these were our first slow dance jams

We're considering today an honorary Throwback Thursday because, let's be real, we wish today was actually Thursday. But to help you get through this snow-less Tuesday (ps, what was that yesterday??), please join us in reminiscing fondly about those dreamy days in your middle school cafeteria/gym and your first slow dance.

Kristen:
Picture this: my first slow dance, circa 1999. I wore my favorite jeans and a red corduroy button up over a tank top (it seemed cute and grown-up and not at all hipster at the time). "Angel of Mine" played, and all I could think about was the fact that 4 minutes and 12 seconds is a really long time to sway back and forth while awkwardly embracing a fellow-seventh grader.

Honorable (awkward) mention: The first time I ever asked a guy to dance (at sleep-away camp, naturally), "Crazy for That Girl" by Evan and Jarron played. So not appropriate for slow-dancing.

Stacey:
Kristen uses the word "embrace" to talk about middle school dancing... that may be a little generous. Sadly, I don't remember the exact song that was playing during my first experience of standing a foot away from a boy while stretching my fingertips out as far as they could go to awkwardly reach his shoulders, but it was either "Angel of Mine" (see above) or KC and Jojo's "All My Life." So swoon-worthy.

Krista:
Oh the days of the first slow dance...For me, I had finally matured from the days of mandatory ballroom dance class in 5th grade when I would only place the tips of my gloved fingers on the shoulders of my dance partner (you would think the gloves would curb some fears, but no. cooties kill.)  Anyway, when it came to my first real slow dance I remember how grown up I felt as I carefully placed my entire, un-gloved (gasp!) hand on my partner as Westlife "Swear It Again" played. How magical.

Side note- do you people remember "snowball" dances where you got to switch partners whenever the DJ said "snowball"? No? Just me? Either way- that was my jam.

new music from the Shins

dudes the band that you fell in love the second you and Zach Braff heard "New Slang" in Garden State is back at it again (finally!). Check out their jam, "Simple Song" off of their new album, Port of Morrow, set to come out on March 20, which is the SAME day that Christy Carlson Romano (yes, that chick from Even Stevens) turns 27. Happy days!

i wish we lived in California right now...

swoon.
for your viewing pleasure our thoughts on seeing this lineup:

Diana:I would sell my first child to go...
Perhaps this perspective will change when I one day HAVE a child...BUT UNTIL THEN
Kristen: i would sell my second child. the first one i might want to keep, but once the novelty wears off with that one...

Grace: This is... Orgasmic.

if any one happens to have an extra ticket to california/coachella...holler at your girls.

"cigarette duet" is my jam

Some music videos are too charmingly weird not to share. Case in point: "The Cigarette Duet" by Princess Chelsea.

The vid was made even better by Krista live-recapping the video via gchat:

Krista: love it by the first 2 seconds because
a. their glasses
2. they're in a hot tub which
c/3 (my brain is mush). reminds me of the "lovers in a hot tob" SNL sketch
Krista: haha this is silly i liiiike
he kind of reminds me of michael ian black a la wet hot american summer
OMG YES
THAT IS MY DREAM....for a guitar to float buy with bevvies while you're in a hot tub
thank you for bringing this into my life
Krista: (HOW DO YOU SWIM AND PLAY GUITAR?!)
Krista: may have to find someone with a hot tub so we can pratice this beverage serving trick
(and we also have to practice our ukulele catching)

Mashup Monday: Beyonce vs. Of Montreal

So I'm sure you biddies heard that Beyonce had her baby this weekend and named her...Blue Ivy.  Yes, Blue Ivy. BLUE IVY. whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy???

While I am NOT a fan of this collaboration of names/colors, I AM a fan of this mashup of Beyonce and Of Montreal (nice segue, amiright???)
The Hood Internet - Exquisite Party (Beyonce x Of Montreal) by hoodinternet

It chills out the original version of "Party" enough to calm my nerves and picture what Baby-Z would have looked like if she had been a boy...I bet they wouldn't have named HIM something that sounded like a skin disease slash beauty supply store.

i'm swooning, basically

Though it might not seem like it, I do (occasionally) listen to songs that aren't covers. Sometimes.

This is not one of those times. Check out some amazing, swoon-worthy covers by Boyce Avenue. I'm so tempted to take a (mini) road trip up to Baltimore on March 7 when Boyce Avenue performs at Ram's Head Live. Anyone interested in joining? Bueller?

*bonus trivia: When I met my best friend the first week of my sophomore year of college, she serenaded me with "Faithfully". It didn't creep me out nearly as much as you might think it would have.

listen to this.

these are our resolution jams

How are your new year's resolutions going? Do you need a little bit of inspiration to help you refocus as you finish up the first week of 2012? We know that EVERYONE's resolution is to lose weight/exercise more/eat healthier so we've put together a playlist that's super upbeat for your ellipting (or car dancing, baby steps, people) AND inspires you to add an additional resolution (or 10) to your list. Check it (and theFFJD, who has more ressie advice):

Resolution Jams by this is our jam on Grooveshark

"Call Your Girlfriend" - Robyn
while texts are fine, resolve to actually pick up the phone this year to hear the voice of your boyfriend/grandma/sorority litte/friend with bennies
"Lonely Boy" - The Black Keys
no one deserves to be lonely this year. resolve to take a class, try online dating, or say hi to that cutie in the elevator
"I Do Not Hook Up" (reeeemix) - Kelly Clarkson
last year we resolved to not hook up...on dance floors...highly recommend.
"I'm The Best" - Nicki Minaj
don't doubt it- you are the best. believe it and prove it to everyone around you (with humility, of course)
"Just Say Yes" - Snow Patrol
Say yes to love, yes to life, yes to staying in more!
"Glamorous" - Fergie
we fulling support resolving to be more glamorous? (or to start flossing... no lie, it was one our most successful to date)
"Rumour Has It/Someone Like You" - Adele (Glee Cover)
we resolve to gossip less... or at least try.
"New Shoes" - Paolo Nutini
make one of your resolutions to clean out your closet -- so you can make room to buy new shoes!
"Good For Great" - Matt & Kim
don't settle biddies - make a change to improve your regular routine whether it's quitting your job or just remembering to change the sponge in your sink more often...
"Maybe Next Year" - Corey Smith
just in cases following your ressies doesn't go quite according to plan...

TIOJ is working on our resolutions, which range from musical to blog-ical, but we're always taking suggestions for more -- give us some ideas @thisisourjamdc.

this is my (cover) jam

In case you have noticed our new button, we've been playing around with 8tracks this week.  We're not totally sold on the site yet, but we've had some pretty good results with the mixes we've stumbled upon.  Case in point- this best of 2011 covers mix- see my two favs below.

It's hard to make Temper Trap's "Sweet Disposition" any better than the original, but our girl, Ellie Goulding, certainly does a good job trying:

I'm gonna go ahead and say it- James Vincent McMorrow can do no wrong. None. None.

Throwback Thursday: "Barely Breathing"

One of 1996's finest accomplishments:

Barely Breathing (LP Version) by Duncan Sheik on Grooveshark

In case you were wondering, this is what Duncan Sheik looks like these days. And since "Barely Breathing," he's just won a few Grammys and Tonys for Spring Awakening.... nbd.

(holla wikipedia)

Throwback Thursday: Chicken-N-Beer

Did you guys hear the big news yesterday that our favorite hot-lanta rapper, LUDAAAAA, is opening a restaurant in the Atlanta airport?? The restaurant will be inspired by Chicken-N-Beer, his 2003 album that included “Splash Waterfalls”; “Hoes in My Room” (side note- had never heard this song but will now start singing it whenever Stacey and Kristen come into my room); and my favorite from back in the day when I learned what this thing the cool kids called “grinding” was, “Stand Up”.

Can we just point out that “feels like a midget is hanging from my necklace” is one of the most inspired lyrics of our time. (Almost as good as “I love you like a fat kid love cake”)

we love wednesday: basically every cover by chamberlin. ever.

Cover Me staple band Chamberlin has the uncanny ability to transform catchy songs I already like into folksy, emotional songs I love. I don't understand it, but I dig it.

Passion Pit:

Obligatory "Pumped-Up Kicks" cover:

Powerless before Vampire Weekend Covers:

Cults!

We Love Wednesday: Motown at the White House

I recently watched a re-airing of a tribute to Motown that was held at the White House back in February (a little late I know. Sasha told me my invite got lost in the mail…). Barack and Michelle rounded up some of the most talented performers out there: Stevie Wonder, John Legend, Sheryl Crow, Seal, Puck from Glee (??) and so many more for a really wonderful show. I definitely recommend watching the entire show , preferably at work so that you can sing "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" to your computer.

They kicked things off with a Temptations medley by Jamie Foxx, Seal, John Legend, and, obviously, Nick Jonas.

Pretty sure this is what was going on while they performed…

another snoop guest appearance

The Price is Right just isn't the same since Bob Barker retired, but Snoop def helped Skinny Drew Carey out with this one. Not quite like his appearance with Martha... maybe if he had played Plinko.

On another note, is Snoop a giant?? Or is the guy who won just that short? I'll be pondering this one for a while today.

these are our "new" jams

Happy New Year (again), biddies!! We know you've missed us (and Theme Tuesday) over the past few weeks, but don't worry, we're back and have plenty of blog-olutions (you know, blog resolutions...) and are rejuvenated and ready for 2012! So natch, our theme today is still New Year's focused-- we wanted to share some of our faves with the word "new" in the title. We know, we're so clever.

Krista:
So the pick for this theme was kind of a no-brainer - had to go with classic Death Cab, "The New Year."

HOWEVER, the second I heard that this was our theme today (and every second since then), I've been singing new boyzzzzzz in my head. Highly recommend.

Kristen:
Just sayin'--I wouldn't mind if all my brand new days in 2012 started with this adorable, unfailingly optimistic song by (tall, dark, soulful, handsome) Joshua Radin. Come sing for TIOJ sometime, Josh. We promise not to complain.

Stacey:
Yesterday I was at the grocery store, and the guy at the fish counter told me that I should take a few minutes everyday in this new year to meditate (and to learn to meditate if I don't know how), that I shouldn't be anxious, and that I should just let things come to me (I'm completely serious, this happened.). Well, fish-man, I'm looking at 2012 as a whole new world in which I will try to take your advice.

happy (belated) mellow monday

I'm on the struggle bus, guys. I can't seem to relocate my motivation after such a prolonged break from the 9-5 grind. I was so mellow yesterday while I recuperated from partying like it was 2012 that I forgot to even post this amazing mellow jam by Ben Howard.

The video involves a flashmob, a cool hoodie and lyrics so sweet they'll make your teeth hurt. So please listen and enjoy.
